The Northumbria and Borders Pipe Band formed in the summer of 2024.

The members of the band consists of 3 pipers, Chris Urwin, Andrew Morrison and Stuart Morrison. These pipers were originally military pipers from 102 Battalion  REME and had played with this band  for over 16 years, they remained with 102 Battalion REME until January 2024 when the last serving member of the band retired from the army reserves which meant that the band was disbanded.

 

The band now rehearses weekly in Corbridge, Northumberland, and now proudly wears the Blackwatch tartan.

 

Over the years, our members have been fortunate enough to perform at various events, both locally, nationally and throughout Europe, including the Londonderry Tattoo in 2013, Belgium tattoo in 2018, we also had the honour of playing at the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy in 2024, we also have played at the Durham Gala several times and  the annual Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Day parades In Newcastle and Corbridge
